The importance of the development of the Energy & Health Campus was underlined during a welcome speech by Jelle Beemsterboer, alderman of the municipality of Schagen. PALLAS & NRG directors Bertholt Leeftink, Hermen van der Lugt and Huub Cuijpers explained the future of nuclear research and the production of medical isotopes in Petten. They also discussed the realisation of the PALLAS-reactor, the realisation of new facilities for processing medical isotopes and innovation in new nuclear medicines.
An explanation of the development at TNO EnergieTransitie was given by director Ton de Jong and research manager Marc Overwijk. A tour was given to the Solar Lab which is currently build, to the Heat Laboratory (Carnot) – where research is being done into making heat for the process industry more sustainable – and to the Faraday laboratory, where research into sustainable hydrogen production is being carried out.
It was a successful working visit, confirming the social importance and future plans of the Energy & Health Campus.
