Earlier this month TÜV Rheinland and PALLAS signed a contract for Quality Control.
“We have been working together with TÜV Rheinland for a number of years and are looking forward to continuing our partnership”, says Peter Dijk, Programme Director PALLAS.
“Acting as an appointed authority brings a lot of responsibility with it and requires technical knowledge and intensive dialogue. But that’s part of what makes this project so unique”, says Torsten Pfalz, Regional Segment Manager Nuclear Safety, Radiation Protection and Grid Integration from TÜV Rheinland.
Quality control on site
TÜV Rheinland is a global leader in independent testing, inspection and certificates services and will take on the responsibility for reviewing the structural integrity of Systems, Structures and Components (SSC) in the Detailed Design phase of the PALLAS-reactor. Besides that they will also review the Technical Specifications on content completeness before going out to purchase and and at site.
Engineers, physicists, and IT experts from TÜV Rheinland will be responsible for a large number of specialized areas over the course of this multi-year project. They will work on the entire reactor, from the nuclear core to the electrical technology.
